Carson Taylor - School Board Chair

Character and quality

Bozeman is a livable city with a vibrant historic downtown and a thriving university in a setting of great natural beauty. We are a city of involved citizens and dedicated public servants. I am running for City Commission because I believe in preserving and bettering the quality of our community.

Partnerships

The influence, benefits and problems of the City of Bozeman do not end at its edge. The Commission should work actively with the Gallatin County Commission, the Bozeman School District, and Montana State University for mutually beneficial ways to both solve problems and enhance quality of life. We are, after all, one community.

Values and problem-solving

The key is to remain focused on the values that underlie the quality of life in Bozeman. Focus, analysis, listening, and problem-solving are the ways I work. My strength in governing is my ability to consider the complexities of an issue while bringing a variety of views and interests to bear in order to find solutions.

Community dialogue and challenges

My professional background as a mediator and facilitator, the broad scope of my volunteer activities, and my experience as a School Board Trustee tell me that community involvement and thoughtful dialogue are the best approaches to the present challenges: the current recession, the recent downtown tragedy, and our substantial infrastructure needs, from everyday potholes to the waste water treatment plant.
